Surplus Humvee

Surplus Humvee v
Buying a surplus humvee is one of
the few ways to own a genuine
military humvee.

The humvee has proven itself as an awesome military vehicle on several occasions so there is really not a big surprise to find people looking for a surplus humvee to buy. There are some troubles with getting a surplus humvee though that is pretty tough to ignore, problems that might make you look for alternatives to the otherwise great surplus humvee. Here you will be able to learn all you need to know about the hows and whys when it comes to getting a surplus humvee, and also the alternatives that exists.

Surplus humvee – Not many out there

The first problem is the most major one, there are not many surplus humvees out there, and there are even less hitting the market. This is simply because the humvee is the backbone of the American army and if the military’s own repair shops can fix a busted surplus humvee, they will. There simply are no busted up or even totaled surplus humvees available to buy. The only ones that gets into the hands of the civilian public are the ones that gets filtered out as new ones enters service and a reorganization occurs. Although old and worn these surplus humvees can be fixed pretty easy since the military tends to take great care of their vehicles, including old ones. But remember, there are just a few surplus humvees available so they might be hard to track down.

Surplus humvee – Military surplus sales

The best chance you will get of finding a surplus humvee is at one of the many military surplus sales that regularly takes place. These sales are generally a way for the military to make some money while they get rid of obsolete or old material such as the surplus humvee. But as previously mentioned the chances of finding a surplus humvee are few and far apart. And even if they do have a surplus humvee for sale you should not get overconfident since there probably more people in place ready to
overbid your offer. And that is even if there is an auction. On most military surplus sales companies comes first and as the surplus humvee is a popular vehicle many will buy it immediately so that they can resell it for an even higher price. It takes a lot of patience to get a hold on a surplus humvee, that’s for sure.

Surplus humvee – The civilian alternative

If you do not have the patience, the money or simply the burning desire to get a surplus humvee you might want to look at the alternatives. Of course there are a lot of different kinds of all terrain vehicles out there but one is special, and that is the H1 hummer. The H1 hummer is exactly the same vehicle as the military humvee except it lacks weapon mountings and has a much more comfortable interior. Truth is that both vehicles come off the same production line and it is not until the end of it that they are separated and either turned into the military version or the civilian version. So why go out of your ways to get a surplus humvee when you probably can get a used H1 hummer cheaper?
